ABOUT COMmISSION

Sandwell Pride of Place Project

Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale of The Caravan Gallery are turning the former Poundland shop in West Bromwich into an exhibition / alternative 'Visitor Information Centre' for the duration of Blast! Festival. The Sandwell Pride of Place Project is a dynamic, diverse and creative celebration of Sandwell and its communities, evolving daily as visitors add to the artwork on display, share stories and make their mark on The People's Map of Sandwell. The opening display includes photographs of Sandwell by The Caravan Gallery and selected entries to the photo competition.

Visitors of the Sandwell Pride of Place Project are welcome to take away a complimentary set of postcards produced by The Caravan Gallery to celebrate the character of Sandwell’s six towns.

Find out how to contribute your Sandwell-related artwork, stories and memories to the Sandwell Pride of Place Project exhibition and join our dedicated Facebook group here.

ARTIST BIO

The Caravan Gallery, running since 2000, is a collaboration between artists and photographers, Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale, to document the reality and surreality of the way we live today. It is also a mobile exhibition space that engages with people and places ‘normal’ galleries might not easily reach. Jan and Chris use colour photography to create accessible but thought provoking images which frequently celebrate overlooked and occasionally bizarre aspects of everyday life.
