artist talks

Blast! is a festival of photography, talks and walks that will take place over six weeks across the six towns of Sandwell from 24 May to 29 June, 2019. This series of artist talks is presented by Multistory as a flavour of what’s in store. Drawing on past, present and future projects, we have invited the artists to talk about their work and its connection to the communities of Sandwell.

THE CARAVAN GALLERY
18.10.2018
6PM – 8PM

The Caravan Gallery is a collaboration between artists and photographers, Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale, to document the reality and surreality of the way we live today. It is also a mobile exhibition space that engages with people and places that ‘normal’ galleries might not easily reach. Jan and Chris use colour photography to create accessible but thought-provoking images which frequently celebrate overlooked and occasionally bizarre aspects of everyday life.

The event is free, but ticketed, so please book below.

Blast! is a celebration of people, art and place  – over 40 local, national and international artists have been invited to make new work in collaboration with local communities, that will be presented in locations across the six towns of Sandwell (Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury, with the festival opening in West Bromwich).  Visitors will be able to explore unlikely new venues as well as see art in community spaces, parks, pubs, libraries, shopping centres and on the high streets.

Finding new and exciting ways of presenting art in, and with, the community, Blast! will use public space, pop-up sites, print, broadcasting and online platforms to attract thousands of people, starting with the opening weekend in West Bromwich.
